India Women know they have to beat New Zealand in their penultimate World Cup match, with defeat seeing them slip below their opponents and out of the semi-final spots.
New Zealand Women arrive for their must-win game against India on the back of two no results against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

India Women’s World Cup has not gone to plan, with the co-hosts of the competition on the edge of a group-stage exit.

While each defeat came by fine margins, tournament cricket is only about winning and losing, and India have lost more than they have won.
If they lose to New Zealand, then they will slip below their opponents, two short of the semi-final spots. India will want to keep their fate in their own hands, and they can do this by beating New Zealand.
Smriti Mandhana is coming into form at the right time, scoring 88 against England in her last appearance. I back the opener to hit the ground running in this match as she puts the opposition bowling unit under pressure.
New Zealand Women Form
Despite only winning one of their opening five World Cup games, New Zealand Women are right in the hunt for a semi-final spot at the competition this year.
A win over Bangladesh in their third game helped them to bounce back from defeats to Australia and South Africa. However, no results in matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan saw likely wins taken from them. While they did take a point each from those games, New Zealand will still feel like they are two points short of where they should be.
A win in this match would move New Zealand two clear of India with a single game to come. However, New Zealand’s lack of game time will likely come back to haunt them. While they have lost their last three, India have at least been playing consistently, and I predict that this will come into play as New Zealand are beaten.

I am backing India to secure the win as Mandhana continues to score well with the bat.
