New Zealand vs Australia 1st T20 Preview & Tips
New Zealand beat South Africa by three runs in their last T20 outing, but this came all the way back in July.
Australia eased to a two wicket win against South Africa in their last T20 as they secured a 2-1 series win over their opponents.
- Australia have won their last three against New Zealand
- Tim David scored 83, 50 and 17 across the recent T20 series against South Africa
Head To Head
Australia have won seven of their last 10 against New Zealand, with the latter winning the other three meetings.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand arrive for their T20 series against Australia looking to kickstart their T20 season again after beating South Africa in their last shortest format outing all the way back in July.
The Black Caps have impressed of late, winning their last seven matches. Wins over Pakistan, South Africa and Zimbabwe across this time has seen New Zealand beat a side of lower quality (Zimbabwe), middle quality (Pakistan) and top quality (South Africa). Clearly, New Zealand are building well in the T20 game as they continue to win matches.
However, they now take on arguably the toughest test in the men's T20 game. Australia are a side of real quality across the board, and I predict that the home side will struggle to cope with what the touring side have on offer.
Australia Form
Australia may have lost their second T20 game against South Africa, but this did not stop them from eventually securing a 2-1 series win over their opponents.
Defeat in the second T20 saw a nine-match winning run brought to an end, but this did not see the Aussies rest on their laurels. Instead, they rolled their sleeves up and secured a two-wicket win in a real show of character.
Across their series with the Proteas, Tim David shone. He was named player of the series for his contributions, and I back him to turn up for Australia in a big way as the touring side kick off the series with a win.
Verdict
I am backing Tim David to score more than 24.5 runs as he leads the touring side to a win.
