New Zealand vs England 2nd T20 Preview & Tips
New Zealand were denied the chance to go after England with the bat in the first T20 as the weather scuppered any chance of a result.
England did not look at their explosive best with the bat as they were restricted to 153/6 by their hosts.
- The Black Caps have lost their last two in the T20 game
- Phil Salt is averaging 38.78 in the T20 game this year
Head To Head
New Zealand have only managed to win four of their last 10 T20's against England, with the latter winning the other six.
New Zealand Form
Despite being denied their chance at batting in the first T20 by the weather, New Zealand will be generally pleased with their performance in the rain-hit opener.
With the ball, the six wickets were shared between each bowler, with New Zealand able to share the weight of keeping England at bay. While there was no real standout bowler, the Black Caps will know that another bowling performance like that in the second T20 will give them a real chance of chasing whatever England post with the bat.
My major worry for New Zealand is that England were below their best in their opener and still battled their way to a competitive score. If they are to push towards the 200-run mark, can New Zealand keep pace with their opponents?
England Form
While England saw all of their top six batters fail to make more than 30 each, they were still able to fight to a competitive score of 153/6 in their 20 overs.
Sam Curran was the star with the bat as he hammered his way to 49 from 35. Even without their big-hitters like Jos Buttler and Phil Salt firing, England were still very much in the hunt for a win.
It was a rare failure with the bat for Phil Salt, with the opener caught for three. This time, I back him to build on his impressive average of 38.78 in the T20 game in 2025 by scoring well in the second T20.
Verdict
I am backing Phil Salt to get England off to a strong start as he notches a score of 30+ runs in a win for the tourists.
