New Zealand vs England 3rd T20 Preview & Tips
New Zealand were not good enough with bat or ball in the second T20 as they were completely outplayed by England.
England stormed to a 65-run win that was built on big scores from Phil Salt (85) and Harry Brook (78).
- Phil Salt smashed a top score of 85 in the second T20
- England have won their last four T20 matches
Head To Head
England have secured seven wins in their last 10 T20’s against New Zealand, with the Black Caps winning the other three.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand couldn’t keep up with England’s explosive batting as they were outdone with both bat and ball.
Going at almost two runs per ball, New Zealand’s bowlers were smashed to all corners of the stadium as England recorded 10 maximums. This saw each New Zealand bowler go for over 10.00 per over.
Heading into bat, New Zealand knew they had to start quickly. However, two early wickets were then followed by consistent wickets from the ninth over onwards. Adil Rashid was their chief tormentor, taking 4/32 as he spun New Zealand out.
While New Zealand will likely be better in the third T20, I maintain that they are outmatched with the bat. If their bowlers are not able to restrict England’s batsmen, then this one will likely end in another comfortable defeat for the home side.
England Form
England were superb in the second T20 as they easily beat their hosts in a 65-run win that saw both their batting and bowling unit working in tandem.
It was no surprise to see Phil Salt (85) and Harry Brook (78) star for England. The pair have continually shone for England, and they were superb with bat in hand in the second T20. While England’s bowling attack is not in the same bracket as their batting lineup, they impressed last time out, taking all 10 wickets. Rashid was particularly good in the second T20, returning figures of 4/32.
While England have had their woes in the shorter formats in recent years, they seem to have turned a corner in the T20 game. If their bowlers can continue to keep things tight and take wickets alongside their batters consistently scoring, they will not lose particularly often.
Verdict
I am backing England to secure the series by beating New Zealand in the second T20 as Phil Salt once again takes the home side’s bowlers to task.
