New Zealand vs South Africa Women Preview & Tips
New Zealand Women could not deal with Australia's firepower in their opening Cricket World Cup game as they were beaten by 89 runs.
South Africa Women were easily beaten by England in their first Cricket World Cup match as they fell to a 10 wicket defeat.
- South Africa have won six of their last seven in the 50 over format against New Zealand
- New Zealand have lost five of their last seven ODI's
Head To Head
South Africa have won seven of their last 10 against New Zealand, with the latter winning the other three.
New Zealand Women Form
New Zealand Women began their Cricket World Cup campaign with a heavy 89 run loss to Australia in a game they never really looked like winning.
With the Aussies making their way to 326 all out, New Zealand know they needed to be near perfect to get anywhere near their big rivals. However, slipping to 0/2 had them on the back foot immediately. Sophie Devine's stunning 112 gave them some hope, but a top score of 33 from Amelia Kerr was the best effort any of the captain's teammates could provide.
While New Zealand's match against South Africa is far more winnable, their performances against their opponents in recent years have been hugely disappointing. A single win in their last seven against South Africa in the ODI format shows who is in the ascendancy, and I back New Zealand to struggle.
South Africa Women Form
South Africa Women were blown away in their opening match as England romped to a 10 wicket win. Only one South African batter could make it to double figures as they were skittled for just 69 runs in 20.4 overs.
Hoping to give England's batters the same woes in the middle, South Africa went on the attack, but they were dispatched, with England easing to a score of 73 without losing a single wicket.
The focus for South Africa in this one has to be building a score with the bat. Their pathetic tally of 69 all out was never going to be enough to trouble a side like England, and they will not win many games if they continue to lose wickets. However, I back South Africa to get off the mark at the second time of asking as they dispatch New Zealand once again.
Verdict
I am backing South Africa to pick up a much needed win over New Zealand as they bounce back from their 10 wicket loss to England.
