New Zealand vs Sri Lanka Women Preview & Tips
New Zealand Women secured their first 2025 Cricket World Cup win in their last outing as they hammered Bangladesh by 100 runs.
Sri Lanka Women were no match for England in their last game as they were thumped by 89 runs.
- Sri Lanka have lost all three of their World Cup matches
- New Zealand have won their last two ODI's against their opponents
- Sophie Devine scored 63 runs in New Zealand's win over Bangladesh
Head To Head
New Zealand have won eight of their last 10 ODI's against Sri Lanka, with their opponents winning twice.
New Zealand Women Form
New Zealand Women knew they had to secure a win to stay in the hunt for a World Cup semi-final spot, and that is exactly what they got against Bangladesh in their last game.
Batting first, New Zealand battled their way to 227/9, a score that looked competitive. However, it would actually prove to be far too much for Bangladesh, with their opponents skittled for just 127 in 39.5 overs. Sophie Devine was once again at the heart of New Zealand's score, playing her way to 63.
I back Devine to show her quality once again as she takes Sri Lanka's beleaguered bowling attack to task in a vital win for her side.
Sri Lanka Women Form
Sri Lanka Women's slim hopes of securing an unlikely semi-final spot have taken a blow with each game that has passed, with their sole point this term coming from their no result against Australia.
Away from their abandoned game with the Aussies, Sri Lanka have lost their other two World Cup games, falling to a 59-run loss at the hands of India before being hammered by England in an 89-run loss.
With only four games left to come, Sri Lanka will likely need to win all of their matches to stay in contention for a last-four spot. Games against Bangladesh and Pakistan are winnable, but their upcoming matches against New Zealand and South Africa will likely end in defeat.
Verdict
I am backing New Zealand to secure their second win at the Women's World Cup as Sophie Devine continues her excellent form with the bat.
