NRL Round 4 Best Bets
Best bets and expert insight for the fourth round of the NRL season as the Warriors and Panthers fight to extend their perfect starts to the new season.
New Zealand Warriors vs Wests Tigers
New Zealand Warriors eased to a third consecutive win last weekend as they beat the Newcastle Knights 38-12 on the road. Victory was particularly important as it saw them triumph in their first away game of the season.
Prior to victory last week, the Warriors had beaten the Sydney Roosters 42-18 before they hammered the Canberra Raiders 40-6. Their big wins have seen them top the ladder with six points, although they sit at the summit by virtue of their +84 points difference to the Panthers' +82. A win this week is vital if they are to stay clear of their closest rivals.
Meanwhile, the Wests Tigers saw their win on the opening day followed by a defeat as they were beaten 20-16 by the South Sydney Rabbitohs. In their first away game of the season they were consigned to a defeat, and I believe this is a bad omen when travelling to face the leaders.
With the Warriors winning their last three against the Tigers whilst beating each opponent by 24 points or more this season, I back a comfortable win for the home side this week.
Penrith Panthers vs Parramatta Eels
The Penrith Panthers hammered the Sydney Roosters 40-6 in their last outing as they made it three consecutive wins in the competition. Having already beaten the Brisbane Broncos 26-0 and the Cronulla Sharks 26-6, the Panthers have continued to flex their ability to score and keep the opposition out.
The Parramatta Eels may arrive with wins in their last two league games, but they take on one of the best sides in the competition in a meeting that I predict they will slip to a defeat in. The Eels were handsomely beaten 52-4 by the Melbourne Storm in their first away game of the season, while they have lost their last four against the Panthers.
With the home side in stunning form both with and without the ball, I back the Panthers to easily beat the Eels as they notch a fourth successive win.
Verdict
I am backing the NRL's two top sides to storm to big wins as they continue their perfect runs in 2026.
