New Zealand Women were denied the chance to defend their World Cup crown by an inspired Canada in the semi-final last weekend.

France Women threatened a shock win over England in their semi-final before they eventually succumbed to their superior opponents.

In their last six meetings, the Black Ferns have won twice, with France winning the other four.
New Zealand Women Form
New Zealand Women were left stunned by Canada's supreme performance in the semi-finals, with the double world champions beaten 34-19 in a clash that did not go to type.
Leading 24-7 at half-time, Canada knew they could take little for granted, with New Zealand the tournament team in women's rugby. However, the Black Ferns could only win the second 40 12-10, with this not enough to turn the game around.
Usually, New Zealand are the side dictating the tempo and dominating teams with and without the ball. In the semi-final, the Black Ferns had a taste of their own medicine and were well beaten.
While New Zealand are the side to back to bounce back and finish third, they have an awful record against the French. Four of their six meetings have ended in a win for France, meaning I am backing a tight game as New Zealand get back to winning ways.
France Women Form
France Women may have lost 35-17 to England in the semi-finals, but they were right in the game at half-time, trailing 7-5.
Ultimately, England pulled away with four tries in the second-half to France's two, but the French can be incredibly proud of their performance. If they had been slightly more incisive and taken their chances, they would have pushed England even closer.
France will fancy their chances against New Zealand, but the Black Ferns are the best tournament team in the women's game. While I back France to push their opponents close, I do not see them winning.
Verdict
I am backing New Zealand to win by between 1-7 points as they bounce back from their semi-final loss with a win.
