Scotland vs Argentina Preview & Tips


Scotland were denied a shot at history in their clash with New Zealand as they once again failed to beat the All Blacks in a 25-17 defeat. 

Argentina hammered Wales 52-28 in their last game as they romped to an impressive win over their struggling hosts.

Scotland have won seven of their last 10 against Argentina, with the Pumas winning the other three.

Scotland had the chance to finally end their long winless run against New Zealand last week, but they slipped to a 30th defeat in 32 matches against their opponents. 

The Scottish looked good at times, but they squandered a number of chances to move clear of their opponents on the scoreboard. Ultimately, it was yet another example of Scotland huffing and puffing but failing to land the killer blow. 

This week, I expect to see a return to the sort of attacking rugby we saw against the USA. That clash ended in an 85-0 win for the Scottish as they hammered their opponents. After watching Argentina play Wales, I believe the two will trade blows in a very entertaining game, especially if the pair decide to try to find and exploit space rather than kicking for territory. 

Darcy Graham has been outstanding for Scotland across his 49 Tests, scoring 34 tries. His stunning pace and ability to step defenders will make him a nightmare in this game, especially if there is a lot of broken field. 

Argentina Form 


Argentina went into their game with Wales looking to end a two-game losing run that came on the back of two defeats to double World Cup winners South Africa. 

The Pumas displayed their impressive ability to bounce back as they floored Wales at the Principality Stadium in a powerful 52-28 win. Argentina's running game has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, and it proved far too much for the Welsh, who were in danger of an even bigger defeat at one stage. 

I believe that this game is a lot tighter than the odds suggest. The last four meetings between the pair has seen both sides win twice apiece, with the last two meetings seeing 65 points or more scored. With this in mind, I am shying away from backing a winner. Instead, I predict a high-scoring game as the pair put their attacking skills on full show. 

Verdict

I am backing Darcy Graham to get in on the try scoring act as the pair share in a high-scoring match.
