Head To Head

South Africa have won nine of their last 10 against Argentina, with the Pumas securing a single win in this time.

South Africa Form

South Africa are back in the race for the Rugby Championship title after their superb 43-10 win over New Zealand. Not only did this victory keep the Springboks in the hunt, they dealt a major blow to New Zealand's hopes.

In their game against the All Blacks, South Africa were outstanding in the second-half. The Springbok's came out like a team renewed, romping to a 36-0 second-half win that helped them secure the victory after losing the first-half 10-7.

Their performance two weeks ago was far more like the Springboks we have come to know. Powerful in defence, South Africa stunted all of New Zealand's momentum with dominant tackles or by securing penalties on the floor. They were also scintillating with the ball in hand as they cut their hosts open time and time again.

Argentina have proved they are a tough side to beat in the competition, but I back a comfortable win for South Africa in their final home game. The Springboks know they have to win to keep their hopes of defending their title alive, and I back Cheslin Kolbe to notch another try after his brace against New Zealand.

Argentina Form

Argentina managed to withstand a stirring comeback from Australia in the last round as they secured their second win of the campaign.

All of their good work was done in the first-half as they went in at half-time 19-7 up. While Australia won the second-half 19-9, Argentina were able to hold on in a pulsating match. Victory means they are still at the bottom of the log, but they are only two points short of Australia at the summit.

While Argentina have been good at the 2025 Rugby Championship, they come up against a South African side in good form. I predict that the Pumas will be left to lick their wounds ahead of the return leg next weekend.

Verdict

I am backing South Africa to secure a win by 15+ points as Cheslin Kolbe goes over for another try.
