The pair have met five times in total, with the USA winning three matches and Australia winning twice.

USA Women came into the 2025 Rugby World Cup hoping to secure a major shock against hosts England, but they were blown away in an incredibly one-sided match.

Now, the USA are playing knockout rugby after a single game. Defeat in this one coupled with a near certain win for England over Samoa would see the USA knocked out. A win puts the USA back in contention for a top-spot, and they would then hope England beat Australia which would see a win over Samoa send the USA through.

However, focus must stay on the game at hand rather than potential permutations. While the USA have won three of their last five against Australia, they have lost their last seven, with this including a 27-19 loss to the Aussies back in May. While I predict a tight game, I do not see the USA winning this one.

Australia Women Form

Australia Women put one foot in the knockout stages after their consummate win over Samoa in their opening game.

Their massive 73-0 win means that a win over the USA coupled with England beating Samoa would mean the Aussies go through. Of course, they would still have the small matter of battling for top-spot with England, but securing their place in the knockout rounds is the most important thing right now.

I do not predict a hugely comfortable win for the Aussies in this one as the USA make things difficult. While I do back Australia to secure the win, I predict that it will be by between 1-12 points, with the USA in the contest until late on.
