Auckland FC vs Brisbane Roar Preview & Tips
Auckland FC have impressed this season, starting their new campaign by avoiding defeat across their opening four.
Brisbane Roar sit three points behind Auckland FC at the summit, with victory in this one potentially seeing them move to the top.
- Auckland FC have never lost to their opponents (W2, D1)
- Brisbane Roar were beaten 2-1 by Wellington Phoenix in their last away game
Head To Head
The pair have met three times, with Auckland FC winning twice and one game ending as a draw.
Auckland FC Form
Auckland FC have started their season as they mean to go on, winning three of their opening four and drawing once to move clear at the summit.
Both of their home games have ended in wins as they took all three points from WS Wanderers (1-0) and Adelaide United (2-1). Meanwhile, they are also unbeaten on the road, drawing 0-0 with Melbourne Victory and beating Wellington Phoenix 2-1 in their last match.
Brisbane Roar arrive without a point on the road this season, while they have struggled against Auckland, picking up one draw along with two defeats. With the chance to potentially move clear at the summit, I am backing Auckland to notch a third consecutive win at home this season.
Brisbane Roar Form
Brisbane Roar looked good in their last outing as they took three points with three unanswered goals against the Newcastle Jets.
This saw their unbeaten league run stretched to two-matches following their 0-0 draw with Melbourne City. The major issue for the Roar will be that all seven of their points have come via two home wins and one draw on their own patch.
Their only foray away from home saw them beaten 2-1 by Wellington Phoenix in game two. This season, Wellington have only won once, drawing twice and losing once. For the Roar, this was clearly a chance to take a point from an inconsistent side pass them by.
This weekend, I predict that Brisbane will really struggle against a side they lost 2-0 to twice last season as they slip to a second consecutive defeat on the road this term.
Verdict
I am backing the home side to make it four consecutive wins in the league and three wins in three home matches this campaign.
