Auckland FC maintained their place at the top of the A-League ladder despite slipping to a stunning 2-1 loss at the hands of Melbourne City last week.
Central Coast Mariners continue to languish near the bottom of the A-League ladder after winning just three of their opening 13 matches.

Victory over the Brisbane Roar followed a 2-1 loss to Newcastle Jets on new years day, with a draw away at Macarthur and a defeat at the hands of Melbourne City seeing Auckland secure four points from a possible 12.
Fortunately for the leaders, second placed Sydney FC have also been wayward, returning the exact same record. With Sydney carrying a game in hand and only being two points behind the leaders, Auckland FC have to win. I predict that they will do exactly that as they make it three wins in four against the Mariners as they stay clear of teams like Newcastle Jets, who take on Wellington Phoenix this week.
Central Coast Mariners Form
Central Coast Mariners have been enduring a woeful start to the new season, with 12 points coming from their opening 13 matches.
Currently spared the bottom of the ladder by WS Wanderers' woes, the Mariners are only eight points short of Macarthur despite their terrible start. However, finding a way to consistently win after only winning three of their opening 13 is a tall order, especially when their first match is away against the leaders.
With four defeats in six away games and three losses in their last four on the road, I am backing the Mariners to slip to another defeat.
