Adelaide United were hammered 4-0 by Central Coast Mariners in their last outing as the home side were given a lesson on the pitch.

Despite currently sitting in ninth on the ladder, Wellington Phoenix are still very much in the discussion for a top six spot this season. The 14 points they have collected means they are just three short of Melbourne Victory in sixth, although they are now seven points behind leaders Auckland FC, who take on Brisbane Roar this weekend.
A brace of wins across their last three matches has swelled their points tally, although impressive wins over Central Coast Mariners (3-1) and Brisbane Roar (3-0) sandwiched a chastening 5-1 hammering at the hands of Melbourne Victory. Clearly, when things are bad for Wellington, they are really bad.
More positively for Wellington, they have been fairly good at home this season. Three wins in six home games including two victories in their last three shows Phoenix have been strong, and I back them to continue their good run by picking up another win.
Adelaide United Form
Much like Wellington Phoenix, Adelaide United are still very much in the top six equation, with the side currently sitting two points behind Melbourne Victory in sixth.
The similarities with the Phoenix do not stop there, with United also picking up two wins across their last three matches and losing once. Their latest defeat saw them hammered 4-0 by Central Coast Mariners as they conceded four times against a side that had only scored 11 goals in their previous 10 outings.
With four defeats coming from five away games this season, I predict that United will struggle in this one. Wellington Phoenix will not likely blow their opponents away, but the poor form of the travelling side on the road is something that will likely see them slip to another defeat.
Verdict
I am backing Phoenix to notch a fifth win of the season as they move above their opponents on the ladder.
