Aryna Sabalenka's start to 2026 has been perfect, with victory in Brisbane followed by a simple win in the first round of the Australian Open.
At Brisbane, Sabalenka took out a number of well-known names including Madison Keys. This would have been sweet revenge as Keys denied Sabalenka the chance at three consecutive Australian Open crowns in 2025 as she secured the trophy.
Now, Sabalenka will be targeting a 31st win in 38 attempts at the tournament. While she has not ever faced her opponent in a competitive match, I do not believe this will matter. I am backing Sabalenka to secure a seventh consecutive 2-0 win in 2026 as she continues her march towards the second week of the first Slam of the year.
Zhuoxuan Bai Form
Zhuoxuan Bai needed to be at her very best in the first round of the Australian Open as she was taken into a tie breaker by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
Their enthralling clash saw Bai eventually win 6-4 2-6 7-6 (10) to extend her winning run in 2026 to four matches. Impressively, Bai was able to battle through three qualifying rounds to take her place in the first round where she did not miss her chance to impress.
Despite her excellent record in 2026, I predict that Bai will have to take this clash as a real learning experience. There are few that can truly match Sabalenka on the court right now, and Bai is not one of those players.

I am backing Sabalenka to secure a 2-0 win as she continues to hammer any opponent that is drawn against her.
