Carlos Alcaraz is yet to drop a set at the 2025 US Open after roaring into the third round on the back of an easy win against Mattia Bellucci.

Luciano Darderi has been able to prove his quality on the tennis court at the US Open this season, making it into the third round after dropping just a single set.

His reward for winning his opening two is a clash with Carlos Alcaraz. Darderi is yet to meet Alcaraz in a competitive match, and this will likely see him facing a real uphill battle as he looks to stop one of the form players in the men's game right now.

With a record of four wins in 11 hard court games this season, Darderi does not look like he has what it takes to shock Alcaraz. It seems very likely that the 23-year-old will have to remain content with making the third round at the final Slam of the year.

Carlos Alcaraz Form

Carlos Alcaraz has been superb across the first two rounds of the US Open, eliminating Reilly Opelka and Mattia Bellucci in straight sets.

His win over Bellucci was particularly impressive as he dropped just four games in a 6-1 6-0 6-3 win. Alcaraz's ability to win contests quickly was shown across his victorious run at the Cincinnati Open earlier in the month as he romped to the title with an aggregate set score of 11-2.

With 18 wins in 22 on hard courts in 2025 and 56 wins in 62 across the year, Alcaraz has been outstanding. Most will already be looking forward to Alcaraz's likely clash with Jannik Sinner later in the tournament, and I predict the former will continue to build with another simple win.
