Carlos Alcaraz hammered Jiri Lehecka 3-0 in his last outing as he set up his clash with Djokovic in style.
Head To Head
The pair have met eight times in total, with Djokovic winning five matches and Alcaraz wining the other three.
Novak Djokovic Form
Novak Djokovic has not been perfect at the US open, winning just two of his five matches in straight sets. While winning the other three matches 3-1 is not an issue in of itself, Djokovic's inability to put his opponents away will be a worry heading into the semi-finals.
17 wins in 22 matches on hard courts in 2025 is a decent record, although he is averaging just short of a defeat every four matches (31 wins and nine defeats). Djokovic has proved so tough to beat in recent years, but this year he has struggled.
Perhaps his 3-0 loss to Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of Wimbledon will play on his mind as he builds towards his last-four battle. Djokovic's record against Alcaraz is good, winning five of their eight meetings, but I predict that he will struggle in this one. While I back him to get a set, I do not see him stopping Alcaraz on his journey to the final.
Carlos Alcaraz Form
Carlos Alcaraz has been exceptionally good at the US Open this season, winning 15-0 across his opening five outings.
Not a single opponent has come close to beating Alcaraz in a run that has helped his overall record for the season to 59 wins in 65 outings. Alongside this, he has 21 wins in 25 hard court matches.
Alcaraz will be desperate to edge closer to Djokovic in their head to head, with a win making it 5-4 in Djokovic's favour. With a shot at a rematch of the Wimbledon final against Sinner that Alcaraz was easily beaten in, I back the youngster to come through 3-1.
Verdict
I am backing Alcaraz to secure the bragging rights as he storms into the final on the back of a 3-1 win.
