Novak Djokovic eased past Jan-Lennard Struff in the last round as he secured a 3-0 win over his opponent to take his place in the US Open quarter-finals.

Taylor Fritz was far too good for Tomas Machac in the fourth round as he notched an impressive 6-4 6-3 6-3 win over his opponent.

The pair have met 10 times in total, with Djokovic winning every single meeting, with this including five victories on hard courts.

Novak Djokovic Form

Despite edging ever closer to being 40-years-old, Novak Djokovic shows no signs of slowing down against opponents outside of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic boasts 30 wins in 39 matches in 2025, while he has nine wins in his last 10, with a single defeat in this time coming against Sinner at Wimbledon. While Djokovic is struggling to keep pace with the top two, he is still more than a match for the rest.

With a 10-0 record against Fritz and an excellent record of 437 wins and just 62 defeats on hard courts across his career, I back another win for Djokovic in the quarter-finals. I do not back him to win 3-0 though, with Djokovic winning 3-1 in two of his four outings at the final Slam of the year.

Taylor Fritz Form

Taylor Fritz was very impressive in the fourth round as he eliminated Tomas Machac in straight sets. In what could have been quite a tricky match, Fritz put his quality on full show.

While Fritz has been good in 2025, winning 42 of his 57 matches, his record against Djokovic is a huge worry. The pair met twice in 2024, with Djokovic winning twice. Prior to this, the two had met at least once every year, with the exception of 2020, since 2019. Each match has ended in Fritz losing.

While I back Fritz to avoid losing to nil, I do not see him finally ending his losing run against Djokovic.

I am backing Djokovic to secure a third 3-1 win in five US Open matches in 2025 as he moves into the semi-finals.
