Priscilla Hon has been excellent in New York this year, winning her last five matches across qualifying for the US Open and then at the tournament itself.

Ann Li proved far too good for Belinda Bencic in the second round as she eased to a 6-3 6-3 win over her opponent.

Priscilla Hon has been enjoying herself at the US Open this year, winning three qualifying matches before easing to a pair of wins at the tournament proper.

17 victories in 25 hard court matches in 2025 is very impressive, while her five consecutive wins has extended her record this year to 33 wins in 51 matches. Hon is going about climbing the rankings in the right way, with her streak across the final Slam of the year very impressive.

The odds suggest Ann Li is the favourite heading into this one, but I predict that she will not have everything her own way. Indeed, Hon's record on hard courts across her career has seen her win 205 or her 331 matches. With a lot of momentum behind her, I am backing Hon to stun her opponent.

Ann Li was very good in the second round as she managed to notch her first win in straight sets at the 2025 US Open.

Her 6-3 6-3 win over Belinda Bencic saw Li rarely put under pressure, although she was given more of a workout by Rebecca Sramkova in the first round as Li eventually won 2-1. It will likely worry Li that her record in 2025 is not great. 25 wins and 20 defeats this year have seen Li lose 10 of her 22 on hard courts. Clearly, she is not unbeatable.

While this clash is one that will likely sway back and forth, I am not backing Li to make it three consecutive wins at the competition as she is eliminated in the second round.
