Shintaro Mochizuki vs Alex De Minaur Preview & Tips

- Alex De Minaur Form
Alex De Minaur was at his very best in the first round as he romped to victory over Christopher O'Connell in the last round.
Head To Head
This will be the first time the pair have come together in a competitive tennis match.
Shintaro Mochizuki Form
Shintaro Mochizuki has looked in good touch of late, winning seven of his last eight outings across the Sumter Challenger and US Open.
An exit in the semi-finals of the Sumter Challenger was an impressive run for Mochizuki, while he needed to be at his best to win all three of his contests in qualifying. This impressive streak in August has helped to swell his overall return in 2025 to 37 wins from 58 matches.
However, while he has looked good of late, the quality of opponent he faces rises quickly in this one. De Minaur is a supremely talented played, and he is the big favourite to extract yet another win. While it will tempt some to back him to secure a set in this clash, I do not see him seriously troubling his opponent.
Alex De Minaur Form
Alex De Minaur was in flying form in the first round as he was able to swat Christopher O'Connell aside in a 6-3 6-4 6-4 triumph.
This win allowed him to bounce back from two consecutive defeats and has solidified him as another player many will tip to make it to the second week. 20 wins from 27 hard court outings is a very good record, while he now has 37 victories in 2025.
Those looking for a better return may go after De Minaur to drop a set, but I do not predict that De Minaur, who looks in great touch right now, will win by anything other than in straight sets.
Verdict
I am backing De Minaur to get going quickly as he beats his opponent in another impressive 3-0 win.
