Bangladesh vs New Zealand 2nd T20 Preview & Tips

Bangladesh showcased impressive depth with the bat in their opening Twenty20 clash against New Zealand as their fourth and sixth batters helped to guide the hosts home in comfortable style.

New Zealand may have seen two of their opening three batters notch half-centuries in the first T20, but a lack of momentum heading into the final few overs cost them in a six-wicket loss.

  • Bangladesh have won seven of their last nine across formats (L2)

Head To Head

Bangladesh have won five of their last 10 against New Zealand, with the Black Caps winning the other five meetings.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh have looked good across formats in 2026, with five of their seven matches in this year ending in victories.

A 2-1 ODI series win over Pakistan made way for the same scoreline against the Black Caps in the 50 over format. They are now 1-0 up against New Zealand in the T20 game with a series win with one game to come on the cards.

In the first T20, Bangladesh managed to chase down what should have been a challenging target with relative ease. Batting second, Bangladesh looked to be teetering at 77/3, but they rallied well as Tawhid Hridoy (51 not out) and Shamim Hossain (31 not out) saw the hosts to an impressive win.

Bangladesh are currently chasing a fourth consecutive win in the T20 game while they can notch a third win in four in the shortest format against the Black Caps. With the home side building a solid run in the T20 game, I back them to edge to another win over the tourists.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand's hopes of ending a two-game losing run that followed them into this series on the back of their 2-1 ODI series loss to Bangladesh were dashed as they were beaten by six wickets.

Despite both Katene Clarke and Dane Cleaver scoring 51 each, the Black Caps could not seriously push the envelope with the bat as they went from 99/1 after 9.3 overs to 182/6 after 20 overs. With the ball, New Zealand could only knock over four opponents as Ish Sodhi (2/40) provided the only real threat in the field.

With New Zealand looking like they are lacking serious bite with bat and ball, I am backing them to slump to a frustrating loss as they are beaten for the fourth consecutive T20.

Verdict

I am backing Bangladesh to wrap up a series win over New Zealand with one game still to come.
