England vs New Zealand Women T20 World Cup Preview & Tips
England Women have been in sparkling form across the 2026 T20 World Cup, and they arrive for their final group game on the back of a commanding 38-run win over the West Indies in their last match.
New Zealand Women easily beat Scotland by six wickets in their last game as they kept their slim hopes of moving into the semi-finals alive.
- England have won their last five in all T20 competitions
- England beat New Zealand by seven wickets in their last meeting
Head To Head
England have won nine of their last 10 T20's against New Zealand, with the latter winning once.
England Women Form
England Women can end their group stage campaign with five wins from five if they can defeat the reigning world champions at the weekend.
Wins over Sri Lanka, Ireland and Scotland were solid, but their victory over the previously perfect West Indies saw England take it up a gear. After posting a very competitive score of 186/7, England restricted the Windies to 148/5 as Danni Wyatt-Hodge (65 from 42) and Charlie Dean (2/31) starred.
Now, attention turns to ending their group stage campaign with a win and moving into the semi-finals on the back of a perfect run. With games against the likes of India and Australia awaiting them if they are to lift the trophy, England need to keep the momentum building, and I back them to do this by beating New Zealand.
New Zealand Women From
New Zealand Women may have left their upturn in form too late, with a pair of defeats to start the tournament likely to cost them a real shot at defending their title.
Defeats to the West Indies by seven wickets and Sri Lanka by five wickets saw the world champions stumble, and the continued form of England and the Windies means that New Zealand have to beat the tournament hosts and hope that winless Ireland can beat a West Indies outfit that have won three of their four.
Ultimately, it looks like even a win in this one will not save New Zealand. Their title defence looks like it will end at the group stage, with the current world champions left to rue what might have been.
Verdict
I am backing England to hand New Zealand a defining World Cup defeat as the reigning world champions concede their title.
