West Indies vs New Zealand 4th ODI Preview & Tips
The West Indies have continually crumbled when put under any pressure with the bat, with the home side bundled out for 140 runs or less in their last two outings.
New Zealand have been outstanding with the ball across the last two ODI's, bowling the Windies out for paltry scores.
- New Zealand have won seven of their last eight ODI's against the Windies (L1)
Head To Head
New Zealand have won eight of their last 10 against the West Indies in the ODI format, with the latter winning the other two.
West Indies Form
The West Indies followed up a solid performance in the first ODI with some woeful batting in the second and third matches after being bowled out for 138 and 140.
In both ODI's, the Windies started fairly well, notching 63 without losing a wicket in the second ODI and getting to 67/1 in the third ODI. However, major batting collapses have plagued the side, with the West Indies falling apart under pressure. Jayden Lennox took 5/19 in the second ODI and 4/52 in the third ODI, with the Windies having no answer for the Kiwi bowler.
While they took five New Zealand wickets in the second ODI and four in the third ODI, it was not enough. Combined totals of below 300 across two ODI's is hugely disappointing, and I back more of the same in the fourth ODI as they slump to another defeat.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand have gone from losing to the Windies by seven wickets in the first ODI to skittling their hosts twice for scores below 150.
In the third ODI, the Black Caps kept the Windies honest, removing eight batters for single-figure scores. While this West Indies side is prone to a real batting collapse, the Black Caps had to take those wickets, and that is what Lennox did, notching four wickets across his 10 overs.
Winning the fourth ODI will see New Zealand secure the series win, and they look in great touch with the ball, although they could have been more solid with the bat. The penultimate ODI is the chance to continue to make inroads with the ball and score runs with the bat, and I back New Zealand to cruise to a 3-1 series win.
Verdict
I am backing New Zealand to defeat the Windies in the fourth ODI as they secure the series win with a game to play.
