Storm vs Knights
The Storm currently sit down in 13th on the ladder after a season that has seen them win five of their 13 outings. Their eight defeats allude to a side that has been too often ended on the wrong side of the score. With 314 points scored in 13 matches, the Storm rank among the best scorers in the league. However, the 318 points they have conceded sees them return one of the worst defensive records. Ultimately, while they have been good going forward, it has not been enough to make up for a defence with too many holes in it.
The Knights come into their 13th match of the season on the back of eight wins and just four defeats. With the exception of the Panthers at the summit, the Knights boast one of the best records in the league, only bettered by New Zealand Warriors (three defeats). With 16 points collected so far, the Knights are four short of the Warriors in second after a solid campaign.
On the road, the Knights have won their last two, while they have four wins in six away from home this season. The Storm also boast wins in their last two against the Knights, and I predict they will notch yet another win as their excellent season goes on.
Wests Tigers vs Panthers
Wests Tigers face the biggest challenge of their season this week as they welcome the Penrith Panthers. With six wins from their 11 games, the Tigers boast a positive record, but it is under serious threat this week. The home side have impressed on their own patch, winning four of their six matches whilst returning a +44 point difference, but this generally means little with the Panthers in town.
The Panthers arrive as the best side in the competition after losing one of their opening 12. Their 11 wins have enabled the side to move to the top of the ladder with 24 points, four clear of the Warriors in second. Having downed the Warriors last week, the Panthers underlined their claim to the trophy once again. While their only defeat of the season came on the road against the Bulldogs on April 9, they have won the other five, scoring 179 points and conceding 88. Clearly, the Panthers are the best in the business right now, and they will be hugely confident heading into this one.
Against the Tigers, the Panthers boast three wins in their last four meetings, while they have won seven across their last 10. Generally, the top side in the NRL has proved far too good for the Tigers, and I predict that this will be another example of this as they storm to another win.
Verdict
I am backing the Knights to continue their excellent season with a win over the Storm as the Panthers ease past the Tigers.
