The 2026 Six Nations will see France, England, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales fighting for the title of the best rugby-playing nation in the northern hemisphere.

France secured the Championship in 2025 as they won four of their five matches, but they were denied a Grand Slam as they slipped to a stunning loss to England at Twickenham. This year, the French will want to go one better, and they are they favourites to secure the crown in 2026.

France are the side to beat at the 2026 Six Nations, with the nation winning the title in 2025 following four wins from a possible five.

They will see big competition from the likes of England and Ireland, with the former a side that has been building towards seriously competing at the tournament for some time.

Meanwhile, Ireland are still able to beat any side in the world on their day, but they are really up against it if they are to usurp the likes of France and England, as the odds suggest.

Scotland are next in line at 13.00, with Wales and Italy the underdogs. While Scotland may be much shorter in the odds than Wales and Italy, each of the trio will have to take their games to the next level if they are to seriously contend for the title.

Wales have been particularly bad in recent years, finishing at the foot of the ladder across the last two seasons. This has ended Italy’s own woeful run of eight successive Wooden Spoons prior to Wales’ terrible run.

The opening week of the competition sees France host Ireland, Scotland travelling to take on Italy and the weekend is rounded off as England host Wales.

At the top of the ladder, this looks like it will be a shoot-out between France, England and Ireland. The trio can beat any side in the world on their day, and will likely serve up some hugely entertaining meetings across the competition in 2026.

France are the side to back ahead of the tournament, but can they secure the crown for a second consecutive year?
