Fijian Drua vs NSW Waratahs Women Preview & Tips
Fijian Drua eased to a statement 31-5 win over the Reds in their last match as they extended their winning run to four matches.
NSW Waratahs needed to be at their best as they eliminated the Western Force via a 33-22 win in the semi-final.
- Fijian Drua have lost three of their last four against their opponents (W1)
Head To Head
The pair have met eight times in total, with the Waratahs winning four times and Drua winning the other four meetings.
Fijian Drua Form
Fijian Drua finished at the top of the Women's Super Rugby ladder after an impressive return of three wins in four outings.
While they scored a competition high 150 points, they also had one of the leakiest defence, conceding 108 points, which was three more than second from bottom side Queensland Reds.
In the semi-finals, Drua continued their high-scoring ways while also showcasing a solid defence that has been missing up until now. Their 31-5 win saw them easily beat the Reds, although they will likely have much more of a challenge in the final.
While a final can see anything happen, Drua have been poor against their opponents of late. Three defeats in their last four against the Waratahs and a 42-29 loss in their last meeting shows Drua have been poor, and I predict they will slump to a stunning defeat in this one.
NSW Waratahs Form
NSW Waratahs ended the regular season in third after winning just two of their four matches in an inconsistent campaign.
Despite arriving for the semi-finals on the back of a stunning 26-19 defeat at the hands of the Reds, they were able to bounce back immediately. Indeed, their performance in their 33-22 win over Western Force in the semi-finals was very impressive.
While they did win as many games as they lost in the regular season, they have had the better of the contests against their opponents in recent years. Their 42-29 win over Drua back in June made it three wins in their last four meetings, and I predict that they will make it consecutive triumphs over their opponents as they secure the trophy.
Verdict
I am backing the Waratahs to hand Fijian Drua a stunning defeat in the Super Rugby final.
