After over a month of soccer, we are now finally at the showpiece event, with the final of the 2026 World Cup upon us.

Just two teams are left to battle for the biggest trophy in sport, with reigning champions Argentina and European champions Spain set to come together.

The 2026 World Cup final is set. Spain will take on Argentina in a match between two teams that boast very different styles.

Spain are seen as the slight favourites, but you cannot count Argentina out, with the reigning champions continually coming from behind to get themselves over the line.

The semi-finals saw Spain completely dominate France in a stunning 2-0 win. France were the side most fancied to make it to the final and secure the trophy. However, the Spanish suffocated France's attack in a display of intelligent defending and calm use of the ball.

For Argentina, it was a case of talisman Lionel Messi turning provider as he assisted both of Argentina's late goals. After England had taken the lead it looked as though the world champions were in trouble, but they rallied well and eliminated England in a real display of defiance.

Now, potentially just 90 minutes stand between one side and the World Cup trophy. Neither side has tasted defeat at the tournament, with both adept at ensuring they are not beaten. If Spain are able to match the performance we saw against France in the final then they will be incredibly tough to stop.

However, with Lionel Messi in the side, Argentina will feel anything could happen. The contrast of styles between Spain's possession based approach and Argentina's reliance on Messi is clear.

Which side will win the 2026 World Cup? Can Argentina defend their crown, or will Spain add the World Cup trophy to their European Championship crown?
