With the tournament here, Melbourne City arrive as the reigning champions after winning the grand final last season, but are they the side to back to go all the way yet again?

Melbourne City arrive as the champions of the A-League, and they have become the favourites despite an inconsistent start to the season.
City have won two of their opening six and while they have only lost once, they have drawn three times.
Auckland FC are seen as the biggest threat to City defending their crown, with their superb campaign in 2024/25 one that will have them ear-marked as a real problem for the rest of the sides in the competition.
Sydney FC are right beside Auckland in the betting, with the side looking to improve on a hugely disappointing campaign last year. At the time of writing, Sydney sit at the summit with 12 points.
Away from the top three in the betting, Western Sydney Wanderers are the only side available below 10.00, with Melbourne Victory, Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix next in line.
Last season, Auckland finished clear at the top, with the spots below them proving to be hotly-contested. This year, things will likely be even closer. Teams have seen players come and go, with this leaving some stronger, while it has weakened others.
The beauty of the A-League is that it rarely goes to plan. A team could arrive as one of the favourites, but things quickly turn for them as their performances do not match the pre-season hype. Could this be the way the likes of Auckland and Melbourne City go this year?
Which side do you think will win the 2025/26 A-League grand final? Can Melbourne City defend their crown, or will Auckland FC come through on being the pre-tournament favourites?
