Haiti vs New Zealand Preview & Tips
Haiti are looking to build towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup by ending a two-game winless run.
New Zealand brought an end to a very worrying run of eight without a win as they eased to a 4-1 victory over Chile back in March.
- New Zealand have failed to keep a clean sheet across any of their last nine matches
- Haiti’s last match ended in a battling 1-1 draw with Iceland
Head To Head
This will be the first time the two countries have met in a football match.
Haiti Form
Haiti are mere days away from beginning their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, with the side placed in Group C alongside Brazil, Morocco and Scotland.
Haiti’s chances of making it out of their group look slim, and their hopes will only lessen if they arrive for the tournament on the back of a losing run. While they have won three of their last six, they have also lost to Honduras (3-0) and Tunisia (1-0), while they were held by Iceland (1-1) in their last game.
While they will likely give New Zealand a real test, they have hardly taken on particularly strong opponents. By contrast, New Zealand may not have won consistently in recent outings, but they have at least battled strong opposition. With the difference in previous opponent in mind, I predict a loss for Haiti in this one as their World Cup preparations begin with a loss.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand have been placed into a tough World Cup group, sharing Group G with Belgium, Egypt and Iran.
Like Haiti, their hopes of making it to the knockout stages will only be enhanced by a winning run heading into the competition. While they did ease past Chile in a 4-1 win back in March, their previous win against Ukraine came back in June 2025, with seven defeats and one draw coming since then.
Friendlies are often a tricky proposition. Players will be keen to underline their prospects of starting at the World Cup, but avoiding injuries ahead of the tournament and dealing with fatigue is also a concern. While I predict New Zealand will secure the win, I do not see them keeping a clean sheet, with concerns surrounding their defence heading into the World Cup rearing its head once again.
Verdict
I am backing New Zealand to secure the win as they defeat Haiti in a tight encounter.
