New Zealand vs Finland Preview & Tips
New Zealand have been poor of late, with the side not tasting victory in any of their last seven matches in all competitions.
Finland hammered Andorra 4-0 in their last outing back in November as they put an end to a two-game losing run.
- New Zealand have seem both sides to score in four of their last seven
- Finland have won two of their last four matches
Head To Head
This will be the first time the pair have met in a competitive football match.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand have found it incredibly difficult to secure wins of late, with a seven-game winning run making way for six defeats and a 1-1 draw with Norway back in October.
Their inability to win matches is a huge worry heading towards the 2026 World Cup, with the sides in New Zealand's group licking their lips at the prospect of taking on a team that arrive with a long winless run behind them.
While New Zealand have home advantage in this one, I worry that their poor run will continue in their latest clash. Generally, wins over the last few years have come against weaker opponents such as Samoa, Fiji and New Caledonia. While Finland are hardly the best opponent New Zealand will take on this year, they will give them a good test, and I predict that it is a test they will fail.
Finland Form
Finland come into their FIFA Series clash with New Zealand hoping to build on a comfortable 4-0 win over Andorra in their last outing.
This win saw Finland bounce back from a 4-0 loss to the Netherlands and a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Malta, with these defeats following a 2-1 win over Lithuania.
While Finland are not the strongest team in world football, they will provide New Zealand with a challenge. I predict that both sides will find the back of the net in a battling clash, with Finland coming away with victory.
Verdict
I am backing Finland to secure victory in this one as both sides find the back of the net in an entertaining match.
