Naomi Osaka vs Karolina Muchova Preview & Tips

Naomi Osaka eliminated Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round in a stunning display that saw the former secure a 2-0 win.

Karolina Muchova eventually proved too good for Barbora Krejcikova in the fourth round as she secured a 7-5 5-7 6-3 triumph.

  • Osaka has won two of her last three against her opponent (L1)
  • Osaka has only lost once on grass in 2026 (W8)

Head To Head

The pair have met a total of six times, with both winning three matches apiece.

Naomi Osaka Form

Naomi Osaka was in scintillating form in the fourth round at Wimbledon as she secured what was ultimately a comfortable win over Aryna Sabalenka.

In what was billed as a heavyweight clash, Osaka gave Sabalenka little to work with as she blew her opponent away. While the second set was taken to a tie-breaker, Osaka did not flinch as she secured a 6-2 7-6 win over her opponent.

This was Osaka's 20th win in 27 outings in 2026, and she now boasts eight wins in her last nine matches. Her last defeat came at the hands of Karolina Muchova at Bad Homburg, with Osaka forced to retire with the score at 6-1 1-0.

Across their last three meetings Osaka has secured two wins, and she will be eyeing up revenge for her loss last month. I do not predict that Osaka will make it through this one without dropping a set, but I do back her to defeat her opponent as she moves into the semi-finals.

Karolina Muchova Form

Karolina Muchova dropped a set at Wimbledon for the first time in 2026 as she edged past Barbora Krejcikova in a 2-1 win.

This triumph came on the back of a trio of 2-0 wins in the opening three rounds, with Muchova proving too good for her opponents. These wins have helped to extend Muchova's impressive record in 2026 to 33 wins and eight defeats.

Heading into the quarter-finals, Muchova will be confident. She beat Osaka in the final at Bad Homburg at the end of June, while she has won nine of her 10 on grass this season. The pair will more than likely battle in a tight clash that swings one way and then the other. However, I do not see Muchova coming out on top in this one as she sees her hopes of winning her first Slam dashed.

Verdict

I am backing Osaka to secure a 2-1 win over Muchova as she edges closer to securing the 2026 Wimbledon crown.
