Rafael Jodar vs Alexander Zverev Preview & Tips

Rafael Jodar has been outstanding at the French Open in 2026, with the 19-year-old edging towards securing his first ever Grand Slam crown.

Alexander Zverev is edging towards his first Grand Slam trophy with four impressive performances seeing him take his place in the second week.

  • Jodar has only played 40 professional matches on clay (W29, L11)
  • Alexander Zverev has won 223 of his 313 matches on clay (L90)

Head To Head

This will be the first time the pair have played in a competitive tennis match.

Rafael Jodar Form

Rafael Jodar has been excellent at the French Open, with the youngster storming to a string of impressive wins across the first week.

A straight sets win in the first round was then followed by a win in four before 3-2 triumphs over Alex Michelsen and Pablo Carreno-Busta, with Jodar being put under more pressure with each passing round. While he has come out on top in his four matches, the quality of opponent jumps up massively in this one.

Jodar's inexperience on the big stage will more than likely come back to hurt him in this one, with his opponent boasting almost 300 more clay court matches than him. While I predict that Jodar will take a set from Zverev, I am not backing him to extend his stunning French Open run.

Alexander Zverev Form

With Carlos Alcaraz missing through injury and Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic both eliminated early, this feels like the perfect chance for Alexander Zverev to finally end his long and painful wait for a Grand Slam crown.

The 29-year-old has only dropped one set across the opening four rounds, while he made short work of Jesper De Jong in the fourth round in a regulation 7-6 6-4 6-1 triumph that ensured his name would appear in the fixtures for the second week.

This will be the first time the pair have met in a competitive match, and I predict Zverev will not leave anything to chance as he goes all out. While I do not predict plain sailing, I am backing the more experienced campaigner to secure the win.

Verdict

I am backing Zverev to secure a 3-1 win over Jodar as he continues to edge towards the first Slam of his career.
