Zachary Svajda vs Adam Walton Preview & Tips
Zachary Svajda stunned Alexei Popyrin in the first round of the French Open as he secured a thrilling 3-6 6-3 7-6 7-5 win.
Adam Walton humbled Daniil Medvedev in the first round of the French Open as he knocked out the title hopeful in a five sets win.
Head To Head
The pair have met three times before, with Svajda winning twice and Walton winning once.
Zachary Svajda Form
Zachary Svajda was not fancied to beat Alexei Popyrin in the first round of the French Open, but he stormed to a superb win as he brought a two-match losing run to an end.
Svajda has hardly been prolific on clay, winning 16 of his 43, but he has shown flashes of his quality, particularly against fellow lower-ranked opposition.
The pair are very well-matched in their second round clash, and I predict that this will merely end in a contest that goes back and forth. Popyrin took Svajda to four sets in the first round, while Walton went all the way against Medvedev, and I predict another energy sapping clash that Svajda comes out on top in.
Adam Walton Form
Adam Walton was outstanding in the first round of the French Open as he defied belief to eliminate Daniil Medvedev in a 6-2 1-6 6-1 1-6 6-4 triumph.
This win means Walton has matched his run at the French Open in 2025, but he will have aspirations of going further this time. However, of the 33 tournaments he took part in last year, he was eliminated at the second round or earlier 27 times.
Clearly, going the distance at events has been an issue for Walton, with the 27-year-old unable to keep his levels consistently high. While I predict that he will give Svajda a proper match in the second round, I do not back him to defeat his opponent as Walton is once again eliminated in the second round.
Verdict
I am backing Svajda to secure his place in the third round as Walton is eliminated.
