Super Rugby Round 5 Betting Tips - Brumbies to bounce back against Fijian Drua?

The fifth round of the Super Rugby season will see the Brumbies trying to bounce back from their 34-31 home loss to the Reds as the Crusaders desperately try to arrest a slump that has seen them lose three of their opening four matches. 

Fijian Drua are hoping to build on their brilliant 25-20 win over the Hurricanes in their last outing as they put an end to their two-game losing run this season. Victory came via a real fighting performance in the second-half as Drua won 12-3 across the second 40 minutes. This home win made it six victories across their last 10 on their own patch in Super Rugby, with the side often able to hold their own when playing at home. 

The Brumbies arrive for their fifth match of the season looking to bounce back from a stunning 34-31 defeat to the Reds. Despite going 12-0 up after just nine minutes, the Brumbies could not come through on leading. Indeed, their hopes of maintaining their perfect start came crashing down as the Reds scored two converted tries late in the game to secure a truly stunning win. The Brumbies will likely look at their late failings as a freak incident that they must simply learn from before moving on. 

Against Fijian Drua, the Brumbies have won all six of their previous meetings, and while I expect a bit of a fight for the travelling side, I back them to secure the win. 

The Crusaders have started the new season in awful form, with only their 43-33 win over the Chiefs able to put some form of shine on their terrible start. Defeats to the Highlanders (25-23), Brumbies (50-24) and Blues (29-13) has unearthed a soft underbelly in this Crusaders side, with the outfit easily outscored in two of their three defeats. Perhaps this is the perfect time to face a Highlanders side that have lost their last six away games in an awful run of form. 

The travelling side were able to ease to a 39-31 win over the Force in their last match, but they have not been hugely convincing as yet, with two defeats coming alongside two wins. Their 26-23 loss to the Chiefs was followed by a 31-14 loss to the Reds. This, coupled with an awful run of form on the road in which they have lost their last six, will have a lot of prospective backers shying away from betting on them to win. 

While the Crusaders have struggled, I predict that they will bounce back with a much improved performance as they defeat an opponent that is awful on the road.
