Jakub Mensik vs Alexander Zverev Preview & Tips

Jakub Mensik is aiming for yet another huge result after accounting for a string of potential French Open winners.

Alexander Zverev is now two wins away from finally ending a heart-breaking run without a single Grand Slam title.

  • Zverev has won 224 times on clay across his career (L90)

Head To Head

The pair have only met once before, with Zverev securing a 6-4 6-7 6-3 win over his opponent at the Madrid Open in late April.

Jakub Mensik Form

Jakub Mensik continues to defy belief, with the youngster battling to the last four of the French Open after outlasting a number of seasoned players.

Particularly impressive have been wins over Alex De Minaur (3-1) and Joao Fonseca (3-0) in the third and fifth rounds, with Mensik showing that he has what it takes to eliminate some top players. At just 20, Mensik is already proving he is one to watch.

The worry for Mensik heading into this one is his lack of experience in comparison to Zverev. While Mensik has already proved his age means little earlier in the competition, having the experience of playing top quality players in pressure matches will tell, especially in a semi-final.

Alexander Zverev Form

Alexander Zverev has been excellent at the 2026 French Open, and where the likes of Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic have stumbled, Zverev has starred.

Across his opening five matches, Zverev has dropped a single set, with an aggregate score of 12-1 leading him into the semi-finals. While Zverev has had his demons at Grand Slam events in the past, he looks to be putting them out of his mind heading into the semi-finals of the French Open.

With a record of 224 wins and 90 defeats on clay, Zverev has been strong, while he has won eight of his last 10 matches. While Mensik will likely have his moments as he takes a set, I am backing Zverev to march into the French Open final.

Verdict

I am backing Alexander Zverev to secure a 3-1 win that sees him edge closer to finally ending his long wait for a Grand Slam trophy.
