The 2026 Australian Open will see the best players on both the men's and women's sides of the game come together to fight for the first Grand Slam crown available.

With the chance to begin the new year in perfect style, the likes of Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka will be desperate to make a winning start to 2026. With so much incredible talent on show, which players are the favourites to secure the silverware?

Jannik Sinner arrives for the 2026 Australian Open as the favourite to secure the title. He was not to be denied in 2025 as he hammered Alexander Zverev 6-3 7-6 6-3 in the final last year.

While Carlos Alcaraz is only just behind Sinner with the tournament underway, he will have to end a run of two consecutive tournaments in which Sinner has secured the trophy. Triumphs in 2024 and 2025 sees Sinner arrive as the man to back, with the rest of the field languishing in his wake.

Novak Djokovic makes up the best of the rest, but at 13.00, he is a long way short of the top two. While there are a number of impressive players turning out for the tournament, barring a major shock, this one will very likely be won by one of Sinner or Alcaraz, which has been the case for each of the eight Grand Slams over the last two years.

The Women's Australian Open has a range of viable options with the tournament edging towards the second week, with any of the top players providing a realistic chance of winning the trophy.

Madison Keys arrives as the reigning champion, but she is not among the favourites at this time. Instead, Aryna Sabalenka, who won the US Open last year and the 2023 and 2024 Australian Open titles, heads the betting.

She is only just ahead of the likes of Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina, with any of the three fancying their chances of winning the first Slam of the year.

Such is the unpredictable nature of the women's side of the game, it simply means that any of the top players could secure the trophy.

Sinner and Alcaraz are someway clear of any of their competitors, while any of the top 10 in the betting could realistically beat one another, showing how competitive the game has become.
